Mercaz Tally was founded in loving memory of my daughter, Tally Kapiloff. She gave with her whole heart, and found peace in nurturing those in pain… making safe places for their hearts, rescuing animals, and saving lives as a devoted Ichud Hatzalah medic.

Out of the hardest thing a family can face, we chose to build a place of gentleness: for people carrying trauma, overwhelming stress or grief, and for those who love them and carry it too.

We serve our whole community, with particular care for English-speaking olim and for those carrying the weight of recent years in Israel. Our support is therapeutic, creative, and nature-based, and it works alongside conventional care, never instead of it.

Our programs

Eight pathways, one principle: gently.

Clinical groups are led by licensed therapists. Creative workshops are led by trained facilitators. We name them, program by program.

Photography workshop

The camera as a way of noticing, expressing, and gently processing. No experience or equipment needed.

SIGNATURE WORKSHOP

CBT

Structured, evidence-based cognitive behavioral therapy with licensed therapists. Practical tools for anxiety, low mood, and coping.

Somatic healing

Body-based practices to support regulation, grounding and a sense of safety, at your own pace, and never faster.

Kneading, shaping, waiting, baking. The rhythm of dough as grounding, with something warm to share.

Not open yetOur charity bank account is being opened, and we will not take a shekel before it is. If you want to give when it opens, write to contact@mercaztally.org and we will tell you.In honor of Tally’s Hebrew birthday, 5 Elul (ה׳ אלול), we are open to pledges. A pledge is a promise to give once the account opens, expected in about two weeks. Nothing is taken now, and we cannot issue tax receipts yet. Put your name down as a founding supporter.

Amounts in multiples of chai (18). We currently have no way to issue tax receipts. The Section 46 application will only be submitted in January 2027, and the approval process takes time. Once approval is granted, we will be able to issue receipts.

Looking ahead

Her life, and Tally's Haven.

She created safe havens for friends and strangers, fed everyone who came through her door, and was happiest with her hands busy: baking, sewing, pottery, something growing. The programs here are shaped around the things that steadied her: using her hands to be grounded and mindful – baking, cooking, gardening – being outdoors in nature, feeding others, being in company without having to explain yourself.

Her long-term vision, Tally's Haven, is a sanctuary with room for animals, gardens, and quiet. A later chapter, one we are honest about, and building toward.

I learned what baking can do by watching her. Tally fed people as a way of showing people she cared and to help create safe places for them. It was also from a love of giving and outreach: a tray of donuts in a Thai kitchen for a room full of strangers, a table laid at home for whoever turned up. It was never really about the food. She was giving people a reason to sit down and stay a while, and something to do with their hands while they worked out whether they wanted to talk.

Our baking workshops exist because I saw, again and again, what an afternoon in a kitchen with her could do for someone who was not ready to say anything yet.

The founder

Toby Soggot

Toby and her children founded Mercaz Tally in loving memory of her daughter, Tally (Avital) Kapiloff. Family and close friends lead the organization's day-to-day work. Toby studied law in the UK and spent many years in Israel's hi-tech industry.

Currently training in journal coaching, and now in a mentorship in therapeutic photography.
